Typos and conflicting info

Hey everyone,

maybe posted somewhere else on some Spanish or French boards, but I thought I'd ask for clarification and compile a smaller list of conflicting info and typos found in various forms of Anima for later reference. Hopefully you can help me out.

Conflicting info: stuff that are named X in one source and Y in another with matching or different lore or different stuff named the same. Examples:

Jedah's Eye (A:T) vs Eye of the North (A:TotG) vs Supernatural Devourer (A:PE, note: a different item is named the same in A:T)
Fathum (A:TotG) vs Message Locket (A:PE) vs Heart of Gold (A:T)
Ikaro (A:T) vs Rudraskha Ring (A:PE, note: A:PE's Fire Ring is named the same in A:T)
Container (A:T) vs Ramudah (A:PE)
Echidna (A:PE) vs Malefaux (A:TotG)
Druaga (A:AE) vs Druaga (A:GoM1&2)
Noht (A:BGaE) vs Noth (A:PWG) vs Seraphim (A:TWWAU) vs Seraphim (A:GoM2)

Typos: stuff thare are misspelled here and there, but not easy to decide which one is correct. Examples:

Khaine D'Lacreu (A:T) vs Khaine D'elacreu (A:GT, A:G1BtD)
Kaine (A:G1BtD) vs Khaine (A:SoO)
Etheldrea (A:GoM2) vs Eltheldrea (A:G1BtD, A:G2BtM)
Pristina (A:G2BtM) vs Pristinia (map)
Dereck Shezard (A:T) vs Dereck Shezzard (A:GT)
Ahriman (A:T) vs Arhiman (A:TWWAU)

There are plenty more, but I think it's enough for an OP as a demonstration. While I'm aware things in Anima are quite fluid: there are frequent retcons and some illustrations are used in a carefree manner, these are quite incoherent and disturbing.

Druaga (A:AE) vs Druaga (A:GoM1&2)
- clearly it is the case of two different beings with the same name (btw Lord of War Druaga was also mentioned in PE). Same way setting have three persons named Lilith (new conclave member, Messenger and Knight of the 7th heaven).
Same way Seraphim.

Noht and Noth are different beings as far as I am aware. Noht can be summoned by Genma, while Noths are immune to this.

It should be noted that due to budget constraints it is no surprise same art can be used several times, I saw it in Warhammer quite frequently.
Also I wouldn't consider card games as a source of lore.

I was not aware of New Conclave, but I always thought Empire's Lilith got her codename after the demon Lilith, same as in the case of Empire's Tiamat and demon-messenger Tiamat, so it's kind of a special case/justified - that's why I chose not to include these examples. (Btw demon Lilith was not one of the Messengers, as far as I know.)

I totally understand those arguments - my point is it feels lazy this way and it wouldn't have been too hard to pay attention to these and use coherent lore all the way through. In my view, it would have improved world building.

Thanks for your response and clarification!

Well, considering Abel Empire have rather interesting traditions of naming Arbiters (Alastor, Belphegor, and some more) and 7th Heaven Knights (Lilith, Tiamat) I can believe that Druaga-the-former-lord-of-war had some more civil name before and was awarded the Druaga name upon becoming the Arbiter.

Anyway I agree with you, it would be nice to have justifications explained in books rather than guess is it some mistake or Lilith is simply common name in Gaia.

It's a rather common Anima tradition:

Anne (the new conclave), Anne (GoM) they aren't related but they do share the same name.

There is apparently a Godkiller named Rhadamantis and a Jurgand agent named Rhadamantis as well. One of them has stolen an artifact relatively recently in Gaia while the other all we know has been stuck in an interreign for a long time now.

I probably could find more, if I look around but well, just to say when people essentially can live almost forever, not too surprising if they meet people with the same name as them.

Not to mention Anne Fatima from A:G1. To be honest, in case of people it's pretty much justified as characters most likely have different surnames just like in real life and, in some cases, these are just codenames anyway. However, in case of objects/weapons/locations, it's much more jarring.

The name for the High Inquisitor (Who is secretly a Godkiller) and the Jürgand agent stuck in Theresia is spelled "Radamantis", no h. Just a minor correction there :)

Kaine should just be Kaine. The map and the Togarini Gaia I entry have it written as that.

For Etheldrea, GoM Nameless Chronicles is the most recent piece of media and it spells her name without the l at the beginning.

Pristina is just Pristina, I'm not sure what map has it set as "Pristinia", but that's an extra i at the end.

For Dereck, I'm pretty sure his last name is Shezzard,

Compare here vs here vs here vs here (although case can be made it's a translation issue as only French materials seem to have the additional 'i'). Estygia also had this issue: Estygia EN, Estigia ES, Stygia FR.

The original Spanish is just "Pristina"... but after checking the FFG core book English translation, it looks like both the English version and the French version have it set as "Pristinia". Not sure why that's a change at all. I'm going to vote for "Pristina" since it's original lol.

I'd go with the same for Estigia too, just take the Spanish original. The other two are needlessly altered.
